An iPod portable speaker is a portable battery-operated speaker that is compatible with the iPod MP3-style device. This adaptation allows the user to enjoy the use of an iPod without using headphones. These speakers are available in a variety of sizes and wattages. The use of these speakers permits a cord-free and practical musical experience.
Styles
The styles of iPod portable speakers vary, as do the users and locations that you want to listen to your music. A small style of speaker is one that can plug into the iPod Nano and uses the battery power from the device to power itself. These types of speakers have a Mylar cone-style speaker with an output of 500mW per speaker and can last for up to ten hours of continuous usage.

For those music lovers that travel a lot, an iPod car adapter is a must to keep the music playing without running your batteries down. The car adapter is a simple cable connection that allows the iPod to be connected to your existing car stereo system to provide your iPod high-quality music through your car stereo speakers. In addition, the cable will provide a connection between your radio or stereo controls and your iPod, meaning that you can use your stereo to control the iPod features, just like you would if a CD were being played. The stereo can be used to control volume, next track, previous track or fast forward and reverse. For those people that have the stereo controls on the steering wheel for easy access, the adapter will allow those controls to have full function with the iPod device through the connection.
The system works simply by plugging one end of the connecting cable, which is a full 3.5 meters long, into the jack on the iPod nano, 3rd or 4th generation iPod, iPod MP3 players as well as the new Apple iPhone. The other end of the cable, which is flat in shape and resembles a large USB port, will plug directly into the CD changer port that is usually located in the back of the car stereo system.

Bose iPod speaker units deliver the highest possible sound quality in small and large spaces. The legendary Bose quality matches perfectly with the high quality sound output of the iPod, eliminating the reduced quality sound that many other speaker systems provide when paired with the iPod nano, mini, iPod video or standard iPod MP3 player.
The SoundDock digital music system is one of the most advanced of the Bose iPod speaker options available. This all-in-one style speaker system features a dock that allows the iPod to be attached directly to the speaker. The dock functions as a charging device as well, so there will never be any interruptions in playing the music, plus your iPod will be fully charged to go with you anywhere at a minute’s notice. For those iPod nano owners, a separate insert is provided that will allow this smaller version of the iPod to be secured into the docking station.
